The system has failed us...we need your help!
My name is Tiffany, and I humbly come before you to ask you for help. I have 14 different diagnoses, several of which have left me struggling to keep a job. My family has been put under much financial burden because of my many health issues. We are now almost $30,000 in debt. My husband Josh makes $200 over the cusp of me being able to apply for disability, leaving us in a situation where we may have to declare bankruptcy. He has picked up every overtime shift that he possibly can, but it is never enough. We are drowning.
Our rent is over $1600 per month, and yet we live in the most affordable complex in our area. Together, we make around $2600 on a good month, and other than our rent, we have $800 in credit card bills, plus my husband's car insurance (he commutes, so he needs the car), and that's not even including our hydro bill, phone bills, groceries, kid's expenses, etc. We don't make enough to be considered for a loan consolidation, and I am in fear of losing my job. My employer has been incredibly understanding, but my body is getting worse, and even as things are, we can't afford to pay rent. Our parents have been helping us get by, but they aren't in a financial position to help us much any more either. We have even had to ask our daughter, who is 16 and trying to save for college, to lend us money from her education fund.
We are good people, upstanding citizens, taxpayers, and parents, just like you. We are in a desperate situation and we need your help. We have exhausted all resources trying to get help from the government, but we continue to be denied because I'm not dying...yet. Our government doesn't care about people who are suffering from chronic pain and illness. My physical and mental health are deteriorating. I was born without a pituitary gland, and suffer many problems stemming from that. I will be needing hormone replacement therapy. I have type 2 diabetes, and my feet have started going in to neuropathy and I have a severe case of plantar fasciitis. I suffer from chronic back pain as a result of abuse from my previous marriage, as well as anxiety and depression. I have asthma, irritable bowl syndrome, ovarian cysts, and acid reflux disease. I suffer from horrible migraines and vertigo, and also have a rare skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa along with eczema. While most of these conditions are manageable on their own, you can imagine how difficult it has been to manage all of these at the same time. I have so many dietary restrictions, and although the food bank has been such a blessing, they cannot provide me with the special foods that I need to live without reactions and complications. My proverbial plate is overwhelmingly full, and I am slowly unraveling.
If we could raise $25000, it would wipe out our debt entirely, and we would finally have money on hand to actually live. We wouldn't be in fear of becoming homeless, and even if I lost my job, we would be able to pay our bills and afford to live, regardless of my health. We would be able to afford all of my prescriptions and special groceries without worry, and most importantly, take the financial burden off of our family too. It would give us a fresh start to completely change our life!
