We're kicking off OnStage Blog's "Stagehands Project" by raising funds this week for the Granbury Theatre Company(GTC) in Granbury, TX.
The goal of these funds is to help their Theatre Arts Academy. The Academy provides a wide range of educational experiences for those interested in performing arts, especially children. This summer they are planning a Lion King Jr. Camp along with a Teen Cabaret where teens will write monologues with a common theme to perform with a song selected with help from our accomplished music director.
They also offer dance classes and even a class titled "Broadway Babies" for kids ages 5-7, which just sounds like the most adorable thing ever.
These funds will hopefully GTC secure permanent facilities for their academy. They had previously been in a government owned facility but were told to leave once the city decided to tear down the building in favor of a parking garage.
Now GTC's Theatre Arts Academy is looking for a new home as well which will only allow them to expand their course offerings to the local youth.
I hope you'll join us this week in helping out this outstanding theatre group trying to bring more performance opportunities in Texas.
Remember, we're only looking for donations of $1 to $5 but if you're compelled to donate more, we can't thank you enough!
