First we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us start the family we have always dreamed of having! We love you all!
STORY:
Brandon and I have been together for 15 years and married for 10 and in that entirety we have known and wanted to have a family. What we didn't know was that it would be so difficult- I honestly thought we'd have 3 littles by now, but its not what happened. We have tried a range of fertility treatments that all failed, had multiple miscarriages and we are now saving for IVF and adoption has always been on the board too. Getting there is no easy task and the cost has been overwhelming to say the least. I actually never thought about starting something like this because we have been trying to save to make this happen, but I know how strong community can be and that with the help of others we might be able to achieve our dream of having a family sooner rather than later.
MEDICAL:
I was diagnosed with PCOS and have tried a variety of things to remedy the symptoms- not only has it been emotional and frustrating, but mostly embarrassing. A few of the major symptoms from PCOS are acne, weight gain (& having a hard time losing it) and infertility. So trying to start a family while also trying to feel good about myself with this added weight and skin issue has taken a toll on my confidence. I've tried everything under the sun to help and I keep up with research as much as possible to find what will work for me- my hope is to focus on myself and my health so when we are in the right spot financially to move forward with IVF or adoption that I can dive right into it without any distractions. We have already spent thousands of dollars on testing for both of us along with IUIs (artificial insemenations), acupuncture, abdominal massage and naturopathy and now we need to focus on what we can actually make happen.
OPTIONS:
IVF or adoption is the next step. We have been told that we have done the maximum amount of artificial insemenations and that conceiving naturally has less than a 10% chance of happening for us. We'd like to start saving as much as possible in hopes that we can make one of these options happen. IVF costs around $25-30k and adoption even more, so we have started this fund at an achievable amount to help us supplement what we can save on our own. Its still just mind-boggling that the cost of this could make having a family unattainable and for that reason we are asking for help.
If by some incredible luck we conceive naturally while fundraising we would take the funds and pay it forward to another couple in the same situation as us. Or if we have any funds left over after ivf or adoption we would also donate those as well. Paying it forward and supporting our community is a huge passion of ours.
