The Silent Goldens Documentary about Suicide Loss

Donation protected
The Silent Goldens documentary (thesilentgoldens.com ) breaks 30 years of silence in my family in the aftermath of my mother’s suicide. Silence is a common phenomenon after suicide loss, and the consequences can be devastating.

Discovering my experience was typical of so many others inspired me to break my family’s silence. I wanted to understand why none of us could talk about my mom and to learn how the others coped with her death over the years. Our story sheds light on the particular pain so many left behind face and shows the healing power of conversation.

The film is intended to be released in the mainstream and will be offered to non-profit suicide and mental health organizations for use in their programs. The mission is to bring attention to suicide loss survivor issues and the need for resources, while encouraging others to start their own conversations.

Thanks to our initial fundraising efforts, in January we completed our first of four planned shoots, where I had truly illuminating, raw, and emotional discussions - no question off-limits - with my father, sister, and other close family members.

We’re raising money now to film some visual storytelling elements and expedite completion of a video presentation allowing us to move full-steam-ahead applying for grants, seeking support from large-donor individuals and sponsors, and looking for partnerships with documentary film and mental health entities.  Your contribution will help clear a huge hurdle to bringing this project to completion!

April 1 as our ideal goal (no kidding!) to have our visuals filmed in time to finish editing by April 20, our first grant application deadline.  Any excess funds will be put toward our second shoot with my mother's closest friends and further production needs.

Your support is incredibly meaningful to me personally since it is my family's story, but equally as meaningful is that each donation adds a voice to the cause of suicide awareness - for prevention and for those who have lost someone.

Donors of all amounts will be offered the option to have a memorial credit listed honoring someone lost to suicide, creating an impactful visual statement of how many are affected.

Thank you for your consideration.
