As a direct result of the deadly fires that have devastated our area destroying many of our much needed resources (burned feed, loss of income), we need your help. Please consider making a donation that will help us take care of our horses that in turn take care of our kids. Any donation, large or small can make a difference. Thank you!
The Pony Express is an equine rescue that provides a life skills/leadership program for at-risk kids utilizing horses as teachers, healers, and agents of change. We have been providing this valuable service for the youth in our community for over 36 years. We currently have 14 horses and between 30-50 kids who participate in our program annually. Our program provides all of our kids with a safe place to experience healthy attachment with their horses and receive unconditional love ❤
What our kids say: "The ranch and the horses are a place that I can go and feel accepted and loved for who I am, without being judged for who I'm not."
What I say: "We all need a safe place to heal from the trauma of our past, and the ranch and our horses are that place for everyone in our program."
Our horses rely on our kids to care of them. In doing so our kids find purpose and passion while learning important life skills such as trust, respect, communication, and team work.
Horses really do change kids, and kids do change the world. Your donation makes that possible. Thank you!
This is what your donation will provide:
$25 will buy one bale of orchard grass hay (feed one horse for one week)
$35 will buy one halter and lead rope
$50 will trim one horses hooves (necessary to do every six weeks)
$100 will purchase 4 sacks of Equine Senior (one week supply)
$150 will provide front shoes for one horse (necessary every six weeks)
$250 will purchase one ton of alfalfa hay
$350 will purchase one ton of orchard grass hay
$500 will feed one horse for one month (hay, grain, and supplements)
$1,000 will purchase one warm winter blanket as well as feed, farrier and vet services for one month
$7,000 will provide feed for our entire herd for one month
