The Pepin Family

Retinoblastoma is a rare cancer of the retina, affecting young children.  It accounts for about 2% of all childhood cancers affecting about 200-300 children each year in the United States.  80% of the time, a parent or family member is the first to identify “the glow” in a child’s eye, signaling there is a problem.

Everett Pepin was diagnosed when he was just 15 days old and has been battling retinoblastoma most of his young life.  After receiving chemotherapy treatment, his cancer is in remission and he is now 3 years old.  However, the treatments have had adverse side effects and have left Everett with hearing loss in both ears as well as PTSD.  Everett is a fun loving kid and the family coined the phrase, “Everett for the Win” for his braveness in fighting the disease.

Everett has two younger 11 month old twin sisters, Lorelai “Rory” and Autumn Pepin.  Rory was diagnosed at 6 months old with retinoblastoma and also has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.   She has had six rounds of chemo and is tested once a month under anesthesia to check the cancer’s progress.  Recently, Rory has received good news that her cancer is “stable” at this time.  At such a young age, she has encouraged others to “Fight Like a Rory Girl”.

Autumn has not been diagnosed and the family is hopeful that she will not develop retinoblastoma.   However, Autumn is not out of the woods yet.  Doctors say she still has a 90% chance of developing the disease before her first birthday.  She also continues to undergo testing once a month under anesthesia to make sure she is cancer free.

The proceeds from this this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to the Pepin Family to help offset the mounting costs associated with raising two children with cancer.  We would also like to bring awareness to this disease and the “Know the Glow” campaign which educates parents on how to identify early childhood eye diseases.   Please consider to make any monetary donation you can.
