The Peeps vs The Yorkshire 3 Peaks

Donation protected
A year ago I left my home in New Zealand for the UK, to spend some time with my sister Lesley who had been fighting a battle with ovarian cancer since her diagnosis in July 2016.

Sadly, she lost her battle against this deadly disease on the 12th May 2017, aged just 54 years old.

Every year about 7,300 women in the UK are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, making it the sixth most common cancer in women.

When a woman is diagnosed at the earliest stage, her chance of survival for five years or more doubles from just 46 per cent to more than 90 per cent. With no screening test, as yet, an early diagnosis is key to survival. Currently, however, two thirds of women are diagnosed once it has already spread, significantly reducing survival chances.

Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity. They work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with this disease.   Eleven women die from ovarian cancer in the UK every day. Target Ovarian Cancer’s aim is to fund life-saving research to help double survival rates.

On 1st June, I plan to take on The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with a few of my favourite peeps to help raise funds for Target Ovarian Cancer

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 25 mile long circular route that includes 1585m of ascent.  It takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with the challenge being to complete it in under 12 hours.

We are training hard and confident we’ll smash it :)

With your support we hope we can smash our fundraising goal too!

Thank you so much!
