Payne Family Well-being Fund

This fund has been set up to provide financial support for the Payne Family of Rottingdean during their youngest daughter Pippa’s treatment for Leukaemia.

On 26th September 2017 Pippa was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia. After 8 months of high dose chemotherapy, unfortunately Pippa has relapsed and will now need radiotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

Gary and Hayley have understandably been reluctant to ask for support up to now. However, Pippa’s treatment is being extended for longer than hoped, and we, their friends, have decided it is now time for us to ask for your help.

We are hoping to raise a total of £10,000 and you are invited to contribute. This is intended to alleviate hardship in some of the following ways:

·      Travel and accommodation costs for hospital stays, visits and
        appointments

·      After school and holiday activities for Pippa’s three sisters

·      Child care costs

·      Family holiday breaks

Obviously we are happy for the family to use the funds in any way they see fit.

Hayley and Gary Payne and their four daughters live in Rottingdean and run two businesses, Handy Hardware and High Tides. They are probably just as well known for the untiring work they have voluntarily put in over the years to make Smugglers Night and Little Smugglers events the great success they have become.

Many of you have seen Hayley spending hours at a time tying bunting and bows to village railings for the events. Gary is the leading spirit behind Smugglers Night celebrations and has devoted untold hours of work organising the events. This is all done in their own time and for no financial reward.

Since Pippa’s diagnosis they have both had to step away from event organisation and their businesses in order to be with their daughter during gruelling hospital treatment and short recovery periods. Members of their extended family  continue to provide much needed support.

There is great community spirit in Rottingdean and the wider Smugglers community and we now have the opportunity to repay this hardworking family for the efforts they have made on our behalf.
