"Pass the Hat"

For our UWUA Local 160D and Cal-Water Chico Water District Family


The Butte County Camp Fire started Thursday morning on November 8th, 2018, growing explosively and forcing panicked evacuations. The fire stormed through Paradise, leaving behind near-total devastation. As of November 24, 2018, 13,954 residences and 514 commercial buildings have been destroyed.


In the Chico District, there are fourteen employees (our co-workers) directly impacted by this tragic “Butte County Camp Fire”. Eleven have lost their homes completely. Ten of the fourteen are UWUA Local 160D Members. We are asking in the spirit of members helping members for all our UWUA brothers and sisters to “pass the hat” through this “go fund me” platform.


Here in California six UWUA Locals, (160,160C,160D,205,283,484), covering 26 separate water districts in the State, have a unique working relationship with our employer California Water Service Company. We live work and believe in the “One Team Approach”, more important is that we are one family!



We, The UWUA CWUC (California Water Utility Council) are reaching out, proposing, and are ourselves donating at least one hour of our wages, and with the help of our 60,000 plus UWUA members nationwide would go a long way to help our extended family through what will be a long road to recovery and rebuilding of their lives which have been torn asunder.  


To ensure this “Pass The Hat” donation process is above board and falls within the morals ethics and standards we Union members hold ourselves to, there will be three Officers from three of the six locals (other than 160D) maintaining oversight and providing the checks and balances management of the account requires. All proceeds from this fund will be dispersed fairly, equitably and evenly to All fourteen affected Personnel as described above.
