Murrah Hoofbeat (We have needs!)

Donation protected
The Hoofbeat is the award-winning student newspaper at Murrah High School in Jackson, MS. The newspaper staff is made up of a diverse and hard-workng group of outstanding students, the "cream of the crop" of our school. Many former Hoofbeat staff members attended prestigious universities like Columbia, Yale, Harvard, and Howard,  Some have graduated and moved into media, communications, and other related work.  Specific needs we are trying to fund through donations, advertising sales, and other fundraisers include:

***Travel -- Cost to transport 45 journalism students to Ole Miss for the MS Scholastic Press Association Convention and Awards in March, 2018. Students pay for more than one trip each year, so this will ease the expense for the most important trip.
***Cameras -- We have two old and very basic digital cameras, so we need at least one professional level Digital camera and accessories (between $600-$800 dollars per camera)/
***Quill and Scroll Honor Society -- We havereactiviate dthe Murrah chapter of this journalism honorary society , and will need to fund our initiation ceremony and reception, our end of year banquet and awards, and senior honor cords for graduation. Students will pay at least $25 in dues to join the national organization, and then an additional fee to partially cover costs. Donations will help keep membership from being too expensive for deserving journalists in Murrah's three publications.

We appreciate any donations to help offset these costs. There is no more deserving group than the Hoofbeat staff. Help them realize their goals! They represent the future of journalism.
