Help us build the Minikin dream ...

Established in 2010 by Claire, Minikin is now in it’s 8th year of capturing special moments with the people of Sale.
From pottery painting your own unique designs or tailor made birthday parties, to capturing moments in time with tiny hand and feet imprints, Minikin has celebrated with thousands of children and grown ups over many a cup of tea and slice of cake in their welcoming and homely shop. Our team of friendly artists have enjoyed meeting every one of their thousands of customers and have shared many laughs along the way.

My dream for Minikin is for Minikin's arty community to be enjoyed by more of the people of Sale, and I am passionate for the local community and independent businesses to benefit from what i have built and am excited about the prospect of Minikin acting as a springboard to help other creative people establish their businesses in Sale.
In 2017 Minikin faced 3 big challenges: a 60% increase in the business rateable value resulting in a much higher business rates bill, a 50% rent increase, high parking charge increases by Trafford Council which resulted in some customers finding parking a problem and expensive. Despite these challenges, I am determined that Minikin still has a place in Sale Town and am keen to develop my ideas in the coming months.

The key to making the Minikin dream happen lies in moving Minikin to a bigger home, a place with additional space in which artists and independent local businesses can flourish. Minikin can extend the workshops, parties and events it runs whilst using the space to provide a stay and play area where customers can take an hour out to enjoy a coffee and spend time with friends.

I am delighted to announce that after a challenging 2017, I have secured a new, bigger home for Minikin in Sale and we will relocate there in March. Our new home needs some renovation work such as walls knocking down, a new kiln room, installation of baby change facilities, redecoration and proving all the furniture & equipment so the additional room spaces can be flexible and multi-functional. I have personally raised over 75% of the relocation and renovation costs but am asking for your help in securing the last stretch of funding which will enable additional space to be furnished.

In 2018, Minikin is committed to working with artists from local areas to incentivise them to run their workshops in Sale and this will be done collaboration with the amazing Sale Arts Trail team. I will assist established community groups and emerging local independent businesses with space options and friendly business support to help give them the best chance of success. By extending the range of offerings at Minikin, I really believe that I can create something special for Sale Town.

So I am calling on all of my lovely friends, family, customers and supporters to help the the final steps of the Minikin dream become a reality...

However big or small I really appreciate the support you can give and look forward to sharing a cuppa with you in our new home.
All of our donors will be thanked on our ‘Wall of Fame’ in our new building and anyone donating over £50 will also receive an invitation to our preview party where they can paint their own piece of pottery as a thank you.
