The Michael Family

As everyone knows The Michael Family was expecting a beautiful baby girl in September 2018. They were more then ecstatic to be adding to their family ! Laci was so excited for a sister she could forever bond with. She started helping pick out names. She had her own list an would tell you what names she liked best! After months they finally decided on Raelyn Mae Michael! On May 15th Brittany was just 21 weeks along and they were headed to the doctors for her regular ultrasound. As William, Laci and Brittany sat there anxiously to see miss Raelyn on the screen an her little body move all around like they’ve seen before, something was wrong... the nurse went to get the doctor. Brittany knew whatever the doctor would say wouldn’t be okay. When the doctor came in you could see the pain on her face as she had to explain to them their little baby girls heart was no longer beating. A moment neither of them will ever forget. Brittanys lab work had came in before they brought her back to do the ultrasound and it had showed the baby had trisomy 18, also known as Edwards syndrome. Most of you are probably wondering what that is. It is a condition which is caused by a error in cell division, known as meiotic disjunction. When this happens, instead of the normal pair, an extra chromosome 18 results (a triple) in the developing baby and disrupts the normal pattern of development in significant ways that can be life-threatening, even before birth. A Trisomy 18 error occurs in about 1 out of every 2500 pregnancies an 1 out of 6000 births. The numbers of total births is much higher because it includes significant numbers of stillbirths that occur in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. So there they were as a family in complete shock an confusion. Their three year old daughter understood an felt everything the doctor was saying. As she broke down so did they. There is nothing more pain full then not being able to change, prevent or fix something so dramatic as this. They had to check into labor an delivery to get the process started. She was going to have to give birth to their baby girl, that was something none of them we’re prepared for. Once they induced her she was in labor for 11 hours. 3AM on May 16th 2018, Raelyn Mae Michael was born. Her little hands and feet had finger nails an everything about her looked like a normal baby. A normal precious baby girl that was way to small but so developed at the same time. You could tell she had Brittany’s nose an toes just like laci! She also had her daddy’s lips for sure! We all know she will never feel any pain and will always know she was loved. This is not something their family is going to get over fast. They know everyone wants to reach out an talk but right now they are grieving the loss of their babygirl and need this time. Please feel free to write or call but please understand if they don’t get back to you right away.

Their family is so close to my heart, they are the best parents to the smartest, sweetest, most loving daughter. So as they are going through this hard time, I want them to be as unstressed as they can be through this whole process. Brittany will also be out of work for some time & unexpectedly having to go through the Cremation process is going be hard enough emotionally. So I feel as friends & family we should try & help them as much as we can ! Please share !! Everything helps!!
