Some of you may remember a little over 2 years ago my dear friend, Meredith, lost her battle with pulmonary hypertension shortly after giving birth to her first child.
For those of you who are not familiar with her story, Meredith first started experiencing heart palpitations in the first trimester of her pregnancy. Unaware of any existing pulmonary issues, she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and after undergoing a multitude of tests over many weeks, her high blood pressure symptoms developed into more complicated problems with her heart and lungs. At 35 weeks, Meredith gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, but sadly passed away just one week after his birth. It had been less than 80 days from the time of her initial diagnosis to the time of her passing.
In her honor, The Meredith Steves Fund was established to increase the awareness and knowledge of symptoms, treatments, and research towards the prevention and eventual cure of Pulmonary Hypertension.
Towards this end, and with the blessing of her husband, I have set up this page to help raise funds. For those of you who feel so inclined and have the means to do so, please help us to meet our goal of raising $5000. 100% of donations will be split between The Meredith Steves Fund and The Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
Meredith had a smile that lit up a room, a spirit unmatched in its kindness, and a laugh that could only be described as infectious. She was generous, thoughtful and kind to any and everyone she met. We miss her more than words. But in her absence she left the world with the greatest gift of all--the gift of life. And her baby boy is beautiful, just like his mama. In this way we know that she will continue to live on through him and through all of us who love her and will never forget her.
