The Details
Orion Faruque and his Charlottesville VA based band, Orion and the Melted Crayons, recently suffered from a vehicle robbery in which $3000 worth of instruments, pedals, amps and microphones they use to spread laughter and joy was stolen. [Full description at the bottom]. We've been working with law enforcement and the pawn shops in the surrounding counties to track down our stuff but unfortunately, nothing conclusive has surfaced yet.
In the aftermath of this crime, we have been inundated with amazing people reaching out and asking what they can do to help us out. We are starting this GoFundMe in order to have a single location for donations. If you have already donated in person, THANK YOU and we've already added your contribution to the cause. As we have a full month of August and September shows, we need to replace our equipment quickly!

Orion Faruque was headed home from Melted Crayons rehearsal on July 23rd and stopped by Fellini's Restaurant to play piano with Phil West. He parked, disguised the equipment with a covering and locked his truck on Jefferson St. between 1st and 2nd in front of the Christian Day School at 9:50 PM. Orion returned to his vehicle at 12:15 AM to find the rear window forced open, interior of his vehicle ransacked and the gear missing. We've had a witness come forward and testify to say they saw someone not matching Orion's description removing gear from the the vehicle at about 10:15 PM. The thief is described as a 5'10" white male acting calmly and possibly with an accomplice of similar height but with "shaggy hair".
The thief made off with Orion's pedals, pedal case, micro-phone, and all cables; Elie's electric guitar; and Asher's guitar amplifier but left our tip jar (including money). They grabbed a single instrument cable and power strip from the rear cab of the truck as well but left some tools in the vehicle. With the fact all the gear was packed up and not visible coupled with the fact only musical equipment was stolen, it is our belief that we were cased at a show and someone recognised Orion as he left his vehicle.
