2018 UPDATE
Thank you for your generous contributions! We raised $13,967 through GoFundMe for the 2018 parade. This year, for the December 24, 2019 parade, our goal is to cover 100 percent of the cost of the parade: $51,162. November 2018 Update:
Like many of you, this news hit us hard: "After 34 years of spreading Christmas cheer through the streets of North Hollywood, Toluca Lake and Burbank, the crew at the Magical Christmas Truck has made the difficult decision to hang up its collective Santa hat."
For the past month, we've all been faced with the reality that this long-time tradition would end for so many of our friends, families and neighbors. Our family went to work immediately to find a way to save the truck!
The original organizers of the event have graciously allowed us to acquire the truck in the hope that we can work together with our collective communities to keep the spirit of Christmas alive! It's the greatest gift we can give to our children and the community we love.
However, it takes a VILLAGE to actually produce this event and we cannot do it alone. We're asking for your support in pulling this off whether it be volunteering with us either before the event, during the event and/or donating to the cause.
As this is the first year we are doing this, we don't really know how much money we need to cover costs but we've been advised it could run anywhere from 5-8K. What we do know is that significant repairs need to be covered as well as back up generators, mechanics, electricians, handymen, drivers, costume dry cleaning, a/v technicians, sanitation and a variety of other unforeseen costs.
We promise any funds raised will be used SOLELY to maintain the vehicle in its original form and to cover the operating costs necessary to continue creating and improving upon what we hope will be another magical event on this Christmas Eve and many more to come!
