The Little Boy's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
In February 2007 I adopted a family, a mother cat and her three nursing kittens. They had been found in the snow on a winter night on Staten Island. That brave mother cat had kept her kittens alive. I had some idea when I brought them home that I would give one or two of the kittens away; but I couldn't. So I knew these kitties since they were three-weeks old, two girls, the beautiful Zoe, the sweet Little Girl, and our dear Little Boy. Two years ago we lost both Zoe and the Little Girl to cancer in the space of two months. When we discovered the cancers it was too late. Since then every day the Little Boy has looked for them, especialy for Zoe his best friend. Two weeks ago the Little Boy was diagnosed with cancer. However, the doctors say that this time, in part because of where it is (deep inside is little pink nose)  we have caught it early enough that they have a plan to treat it. It will not be cured, but if the treatment works, he might have another year or two or even more. He is our dear Little Boy and I want to give him if I can that extra time. He has reacted well to the first step, prednisone treatement. The next is radiation and chemo.  I am told that kitties tolerate it much better than humans. He has done (knock on wood) well with the first step, prednisone.

The treatment is estimated to be $4000 (again that's an estimate). He has his pre-treatment appointment on October 5 to make sure he is ready, and then one or both can begin as early as the next day. The doctors at Animal Medical Center are wonderful, and they have known this little family for many years. I know he will be in good, caring hands.

In order to start treatment I will be expected to put  down half of the estimated $4000. This comes at a very bad time financially for me -- but the cancer won't wait. I am asking my friends if they can chip in for the Little Boy.  If you can help me get to the $2000 we can start, and it will give me space to save the other.

Yesterday, for the first time in two months he climbed his pole. I want him to keep climbing.

Thanks with all my heart.
