Eric and Mark are running in the ROCK N ROLL NASHVILLE MARATHON April 29, 2017 and raising money every painful, bloody step they take. They began their training in July of 2016. They are pretty much awesome now and below is the reason why they began running.
We have an uncle Joe, the dude loves family, wine, cigars, laughter and life. He's a great hang, a great conversation and an even greater man. We've learned a lot from uncle Joe. Unfortunately, we lost him in 2016 to heart failure. This came quick and seemingly out of the blue.
Through the short process, we were forced to become specialists in the area of heart failure, treatment, transplants and a fairly new procedure called the LVAD -or Left Ventricle Assist Device. The LVAD is essentially a battery pack that functions in place of the heart while the patient awaits a heart transplant.
The timeline for this can take months, meaning family need a place to stay while their loved one is in the hospital. The Joe Beretta Foundation aims to build a home in Nashville to house families coming to Vanderbilt for an LVAD.
If you love ponies, rainbows, ice cream or aren't an evil person, please throw some cash at us so we can kick it over to the Foundation. Every penny helps and God forbid you are ever in need of such a facility.
