The Jailhouse Diet: A Bipolar Trip

Loved ones, family, friends and acquaintances,

I am raising money for my legal defense.  I need $3,500 by Monday morning in order to stay out of jail when I go to court.  This is urgent and  time is of the essence.  $3,500 secures my lawyer.  $10,500 is the total needed for my defense and bail.

Coming out of the closet is perhaps the hardest thing any LGBTQ person must do at some point in their life.  I first came out as a gay man in 1979.  In 2000 I came out as a gay man with HIV.  And now, dear friends, I come out of the closet as a gay man with HIV who struggles with mental illness.  I am bipolar.  If you want to know more, go here .

On Wednesday July 4th, several days of hypomania erupted into a full-blown manic episode when I was handcuffed and restrained in the back of a police car.   I was booked for resisting arrest.  No one was hurt or threatened; but my behavior was erratic.  I spent 5-1/2 days in county jail.

I am fine now.  I'm home.  I'm getting sleep.  I'm taking my meds. I need your friendship now more than ever.
