The Independence Series

There are a lot of resources available to families that have higher functioning children, and this is wonderful, however, there are not very many resources available for parents of lower-functioning children. Out of pure frustration, I created the Independence Series. I recently signed a contract with a publisher for 12 books, and am hoping to get it extended if the books do well. My son is the main character in these books, and they were created to not only teach self-help and daily living skills to children, but to also spread autism acceptance, not to be confused with autism awareness. There is nothing wrong with my son, and I don’t want to change him, I want to understand him. The only thing that is wrong with autism, is how it is viewed by our society.Many typically developing children, and even adults,  are afraid or feel nervous around children and adults with autism, mostly because they don’t understand it. I am hoping to change that. I would really love to give out as many free books as possible to special needs families and teachers, and with help from others, we can do it. We have the chance to help so many people.
