Turning Point DC's Inclusion Revolution!

Jerry wants nothing more than to put his own money in his pocket. Terri’s complete dedication to her job earned her Employee of the Month. Bobby said from day 1 that his goal was a place of his own, a dream that is coming true. These young folk are the same as any of us. They think about their future & the path they’ll need to follow to get there. Where they differ from other members of the community is that they posses varying degrees of physical & cognitive limitations that have placed barriers to attaining these goals. Community integration, an Inclusion Revolution as we say, is what Turning Point DC is all about. “We aim to prepare these individuals with the means to determine their own future by developing the skills to be successful”,  says Tim Beck, Turning Point’s Operations Manager.

Turning Point DC, a fledgling company based in Wisconsin’s Door County Peninsula, works to help clients such as Jerry, Terri & Bobby attain those goals through supported employment services & independent daily living skills training. Turning Point DC’s mission is to assist individuals in realizing their potential and enjoy full & well rounded lives. We charge no fees & never turn anyone away. We structure a framework that helps individuals develop skills that will diminish common barriers which are encountered on the path forward. For some, developing these skills will lead to the possible ability to live a life in a setting of their own. In order to help our members achieve a level of independence, we’ve bought home.

The Turning Point residence will be a group home located on Egg Harbor Road in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. With assistance, our residence will allow a level of independence that may not have found possible otherwise. When fully operational, the Turning Point house will allow up to 4 individuals to live within it’s walls with 24/7 assistance.

Before someone will be given this opportunity, and adhering to our stated mission, an individual will demonstrate the ability for a positive outcome through Turning Point’s Daily Living Skills instruction.

The Egg Harbor Road property that we have acquired could not be situated in a more ideal location. Within a very short & safe walking distance, the residents will be able to walk to Econo Foods supermarket, Walmart & Dollar Tree. Residents also have multiple food options such as: McDonald's, Subway, a Chinese Buffet & The Nightingale Supper Club. There are two pharmacies, the one in Walmart & a CVS. A slightly longer walk to the west on Egg Harbor Road is a Dairy Queen & a Family Video. To the east is the Cinema 6 movie theater & to the north is the Apple Valley bowling alley. Arguably, its location within walking distance of the Aging & Disability Resource Center and it’s programming & services is the best aspect of its address. We couldn’t have picked a better location to begin this venture.

In order to see this opportunity come to its fullest potential, finding the funds to make this happen is essential. We are seeking to raise $50,000. Your gift to us will make a lasting difference in the lives of our handicapable individuals. Your assistance will help provide a nurturing environment that leads to a productive & active life. The “Inclusion Revolution” succeeds with your kindness. Please consider a donation to program.
