The Gift of Life - Kenny’s Liver Transplant

On January 11, 2019, Kenny and Joni traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona because Kenny had been dealing with a number of health issues and we all wanted to get some answers. We learned that Kenny needed a liver transplant and Kenny and Joni spent the next week in Phoenix where Kenny had over 25 tests/appointments as part of his evaluation for transplant. In February, Kenny was hospitalized for a week with complications related to liver and was unable to return to work. Kenny and Joni decided to make the transplant their top priority and over the past several months, they have made many trips back and forth to Phoenix for additional appointments to get Kenny on the transplant list. Kenny and Joni made the difficult decision to move Kenny to Phoenix to be closer to Mayo to increase the possibility of being listing and receiving the transplant quickly.
On April 12, 2019, we received the news we’ve all been waiting and praying for when he was added to the transplant list. Since that time, Kenny has been living in Phoenix and Joni has been traveling back and forth every weekend. The emotional highs and lows have been felt by all of us as we wait for this life-changing surgery, but obviously, we all believe this is the best course of action to give Kenny his best chance of receiving total healing in the form of a liver transplant. Kenny is now at the top of the list and we anticipate the call any day now (in fact we have already had a few calls but ultimately, the organs went to other donors).
Unfortunately, there are many costs associated with all the testing and medical procedures, traveling back and forth and staying in Phoenix for extended periods, setting up a secondary residence in Phoenix. After Kenny receives the transplant, Kenny and Joni will have to remain in Phoenix to be near Mayo for the 4-6 weeks he needs for recovery.

Please keep praying - its working and we will need if for next phase of this journey more than ever.
