The Eurodyssey Challenge

I'm about to embark on my latest madcap adventure: visiting all 50 countries of Europe in 18 days… without flying!

That’s an 18 day test of endurance from Iceland to Cyprus via Russia, Scotland and Portugal using only trains, buses and ferries. Over 100 critical connections in a non-stop race which will stretch my proven capacity to travel night and day to its very limits. I hope to set a brand new Guinness World Record™, throw down the gauntlet for others who will undoubtedly follow, as well as helping to raise funds for UNHCR, the United Nations agency responsible for the well-being of the 65 million displaced people of the world.

There's also a serious point that I wish to make. In terms of visas and travel permits, travelling to every country in Europe on a British passport is currently relatively hassle-free.

But, thanks to Brexit, that is set to change. 

Few people seem to have considered the birthright they are stripping from the younger generation when the UK leaves the EU. We have lost no war, I have committed no crime. And yet my freedom -- and the freedom of every Brit -- to travel, live, work, fall in love and retire in some of the wealthiest and most peaceful countries in the world will die when our Freedom of Movement is taken away in March 2019.

I hope that by becoming the first person to complete The Eurodyssey Challenge I will raise awareness of this monumental injustice.

Normally I seek out the support of companies or media organisations to fund my adventures, however, given the political angle of this endeavour, it has proven difficult to get organisations on board.
