California educates 6.2 million of the nations 50.7 million K-12 public school students.

California’s failure to educate its students will greatly impact how educated the Nation is as a whole, and how well prepared the Nation will be to compete with it's peers around the world in the future.

I am a long-time student and taxpayer advocate in the Capistrano Unified School District in Orange County California. I started advocating in 2010 when I was a PTA Executive Board Member, and Legislative Representative for my child's local elementary School.

I started CUSDWatch to provide the Public with an easier way to follow local school board meetings. In doing so I gathered a lot of education data.  I saw first hand; the  implementation and effect that Common Core and California's new education funding law, the Local Control Funding Formula have had on our schools. I have years of academic performance data that shows that a continued lack of adequate funding has resulted in a notable decline in academic performance of students across all demographics in the Capistrano Unified School District.

The EQUITY PROJECT, is a case study of the Capistrano Unified School District. The project will illustrate how California education funding laws and legislative policies have taken California's public education system from number one in the world to 45th in the Nation.

The goal of the project is to educate California Taxpayers and provide plausible solutions that can be implemented to ensure that no child in the State of California is denied equality of educational opportunity.
