The Eotyrannus monograph

Donation protected
In 2001, myself and a team of colleagues published our initial, preliminary description of Eotyrannus lengi, a new tyrannosauroid dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous of the Isle of Wight, southern England. The plan was always to publish a complete, lengthy, detailed monograph in time... and this work (co-authored by myself and Andrea Cau) has now been virtually completed, the aim at the time of writing (early July 2018) to make final tweaks to a reviewed version being submitted to the Open Access journal PeerJ. It will be online and available to everyone.

But publishing in OA journals requires money when the work concerned is substantial in size. I am wholly unfunded: any scientific work I do is done in 'spare time', and any finances have to be raised myself. The same is true of my co-author Andrea. On that note, I have tried (and failed) to win grant support allowing me to cover the fees concerned (c $600) and have also considered using my own money, something I'm not readily in a position to do. Following the advice of friends and colleagues, I'm therefore setting up this gofundme project in the hopes that it will provide the amount needed to cover the PeerJ publication fees. Because full completion and final submission of the manuscript is imminent, I hope to raise the required amount within July or August 2018.

If this works out, the publication of the monograph will be a group effort. This will be credited in the text of the manuscript and those providing generous assistance will be mentioned (if they want to be). Thank you for supporting this project!

UPDATE: any amount exceeding the initial pledge will be used for future research on Eotyrannus : additional work, long planned, can now be completed. This work will also appear in Open Access venues.
