Leukemia (T-cell ALL.) The words no parent wants to hear from a doctor examining their child.

Grace, who is only 12, has been very recently diagnosed with Leukemia. It was very sudden and has turned this family’s life upside-down. Laura only asks for prayers for Grace, Laura, Jim, Matthew and their extended family and friends right now and in the months and years to come as they go on this journey.

Practically speaking, this GoFundMe Page will be to raise funds to help with extra costs such as gas, parking, food and other expenses. Laura is also unable to work during this time. It looks like Grace may be in Children’s Hospital for the next few weeks as she starts treatment. Once home, Grace will still be on intensive treatment plan, meaning almost every day going to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. After that there will probably be close to two years of her having to go to down a few times a month for more treatment. This treatment plan is tentative and may change over time.

Thank you so much for helping us! Grace is doing well, the treatment continues. Her hair is gone for now but she is not bothered by that. We are feeling very cared for!

Grace is still doing well with the Chemo and other medication that she takes. Her energy is a bit lower than usual and her hair has been slowly thinning over the past few days. Her attitude is good, she hardly cares at all about the hair loss... Laura, Matthew and I are keeping well and have felt overwhelmingly supported though this. Thank you!——-Jim

From Laura:
Grace adjusting well to life with cancer, she is feeling very tired and has some nausea but overall is doing very well. We only know what the first month will be like as they make their final decisions about the type of long term chemo on day 28 (This past Friday was day 8.) Plan is still 7 months intensive, 2 years maintenance, but if the cancer is still present on day 28 that will change the protocol.

Grace has been released by the Cancer clinic at BC Childrens. She is feeling pretty good and tolerating the chemo drugs well. We will be taking her for ongoing treatment once or twice per week for the first 7 months... A huge thanks again to everyone who is helping us!!!!
