I was an IT professional for 25 years, building software for large companies at all levels. At age 49, I decided to start my own business. I had a lot of experience in my industry, but I still failed. The main reason were mistakes I made very early on when I had no support. The ecosystem in my city was not equipped to help me bounce back from those mistakes. So, after 16 months, my dream was dead.
However, I had started a Meetup group called The Entrepreneur's Journey to get answers to all of my questions. I thought it might help others as well. I decided not to charge for the meetups because spending too much money is an entrepreneur's first mistake and I didn't want to make that worse.
The response was overwhelming! A lot of people were struggling to figure out their ideas or didn't know how to take the next step. They didn't have extensive networks of knowledgeable friends to fall back on. The existing organizations for entrepreneurs were not up to the task of supporting such early-stage people.
Although I had gone back to work, I yearned to do more to help the early-stage people that were still coming to my meetups. From my research, I discovered that 21% of people have a dream they would like to pursue but lack the support. If you look around you, 1 in every 5 people you know needs this kind of help. Maybe it's someone in your family. Maybe it's a close friend. Or maybe it's you.
I left my job and devoted all of my time and my network to create a workspace for early-stage entrepreneurs where they can launch their ideas with the help of on-site experts. No time-limits. No sudden loss of your support system. Just consistent help whenever you need it for a very low hourly fee or monthly membership.
This is The Dream Hall.
I've been working on this vision since February, 2017. I have a list of experts ready to help and we've started to hold our business clinics in the back of a local cafe here in Montreal.
Our goal is to build momentum so that we can get a commercial space and, eventually, open a Dream Hall in every city where entrepreneurs are struggling to get started.
The problem is that we are running out of money just as momentum is starting to build.
We need $5000 / month to cover our expenses - i.e., salaries, rent, and marketing. With your support, we can continue to hold our business clinics and build our momentum for the next 4 months until we become self-sufficient.
Helping others is how I wish to spend the rest of my life and I have chosen to help the average person achieve their dream of seeing their big idea make it onto the world stage. I believe that far too many ideas die of neglect and that the world is missing out on some of the best ideas of our time.
Help me find the next great idea that might change the world. The people that dream of launching those ideas might be out there right now, looking in vain for the help they need.
