This photo is of our family when we first began our family business,  The Domesticated Dad ‌, in August of 2013. We had no savings in the bank to start a business at the time, but our daughter had an idea that we just couldn't stop thinking about - delivering brown bag lunches for "her friends". Our little man agreed, and so we went for it, with the help of a friend who let us use his commerical kitchen, and customers who showed up and ordered faithfully. Our prices were low, because we wanted to make it affordable for local families, but as busy as we were, we still weren't making enough money to survive, so we had to raise prices. But we've still been going through some trial and errors trying to figure this all out.

It's been a fun, awesome, and bumpy rollercoaster of a road over the past few years, lots of ups and downs. We were able to get our own little storefront in town, with many thanks to God who gave us the resources for that, but no matter how hard we work,  and no matter how busy we are, bootstrapping has been getting harder and harder  to grow the business and continue to serve the community.

We have the best customers ever, and this little store has been like an extended family to us, as we've met so many people in town, and try to donate whatever we can whenever we can to help others, too.

But we are at a crossroads. Our credit is not so great - we're working on it, but banks will not loan us money. Without funding, it's been increasingly difficult as we grow bigger. We need funds to add refrigeration, repair stuff that needs fixing, keep delivering those brown bag lunches in the early hours of the morning, and keep our doors open.

We try never to ask for anything,  so we would like to use this Go Fund Me as a way to offer something in return to anyone who supports us, and continue offering fresh, homemade food to our community.  All supporters will receive a homemade  token of gratitude from us!!

We are so grateful to all of our customers, and to the many people who over the years who have helped in any way, even with kind words and encouragement. Any small bit helps, and we thank you  for taking the time to read this!! As always, it's an honor to serve you.

It's been about a week since we started this Go Fund Me campaign, and we have been a bit overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of our family, friends, brown bag lunchers, community, and even some people we've never met. It just is amazing how AWESOME people are, whether it's a contribution, an inspiring word, a share of the campaign, a call of concern, or a drop by the store, it all makes such a difference!!

We know there are so many people who need support, and we don't take lightly that you chose to contribute to us - it's what keeps us going and has inspired our kiddos, too!!

Our business has been growing, and that's an incredible thing!! But (it's a little hard to explain) when you're busier it takes a lot more to run the business - something quite frankly we weren't as aware of and we didn't plan for. But if we planned or thought about, we probably wouldn't have even started this business at all, because "on paper" the cards were pretty stacked against us. We kind of just jumped in, took the shot, and God in His amazing grace has helped us through the angels like you over the years who have just the right thing at just the right moment which gives us just enough to keep working hard and pushing forward!!

So long story short, YOU ROCK!! More homemade treats are on the way out this week...

Alright, we are getting ready to add some more refrigeration, and we reconfigured some of our space in the store to make it a bit more useful. We ordered some more supplies, and they are on the way!! We are also working on all of our "thank you's" and they are starting to go out tomorrow!! For those who asked us to donate them, we will be bringing some goodies to Camp Oakhurst as a donation from you!! You guys rock!!

We've heard so many times when businesses are growing and revenues are increasing that cash flow becomes tighter, and we always kind of wondered why...now we know first hand!! We are so grateful for all who have encouraged us, shared our story, contributed to the campaign, hire us for parties, order catering, think of us and stop by for breakfast or lunch, order school lunches, grab a bag a chips...all these things mean SO much to us ~ you all make such a difference for a small family business like ours ❤ #thestorethatlovebuilt
