This is my neighbor Jewel Cournoyer. She has taught me much over the past few years about being there for your neighbor and what it means to be a good friend to someone in need. Now it is my(our) turn to return the favor.

Jewel and her husband Justin are expecting identical twin boys in October. They also have an adorable two year old son. Due to a rare gestational condition and a shared placenta, Jewel's pregnancy is considered extremely high risk. Doctors are expecting the boys to need to be born preterm at 34 weeks and spend significant time in NICU after birth, although we are praying and believing that will change. Having twins and a very high risk pregnancy would already require extra support from the community, but making things even more difficult is that dad was recently deployed with the U.S. Army National Guard to the continent of Africa. Justin will be gone for at least one year and will not return permanently until months after the babies are born. I am so blessed to witness this family be thankful and strong during this season, but they need our help. One burden we can and should lift from their shoulders is any financial needs they may have. Jewel will need to hire several people to help her through this time. Funds raised here will go towards:

-Postpartum doula to help during the day so Jewel can rest/recover
-Extra costs of twins (double diapers, double everything!)

Mainly, as her friends, as fellow moms and dads, as people who would want the same done for us if we were in their shoes, I would like to send a message of massive support that they will not have to go through this alone. This is an extremely tangible way to say thank you to our military families who sacrifice so much for us. Thank you in advance for your support of this beautiful cause.

We have some very exciting news! Justin is coming home! Thanks to Jewel's doctors who sent letters outlining the critical nature and the severity of the situation, Justin's higher leadership made the decision to release him from active duty and send him HOME! Justin and Jewel are so thankful and touched by the amazing generosity, but do not feel right about keeping the money that was donated. A refund will be issued shortly. Thank you all for coming alongside the Cournoyers during their time of need. Please continue to pray and send positive thoughts for the health of Jewel and the babies!!!
