The Carter Skate Bowl / Club
Donation protected
The Carter has been an skate cooperative involving the local skateboard community here in downtown Duluth, MN. We built the first private indoor skate bowl /park and have been operational for about 8 months now.
We have put a lot of effort and passion into this project as well as funding for raw materials/tools.
UPDATE:
Hey everyone we met with with the head fire marshall and architect and discussed our options at this point.
From the beginning we had a vision to keep the skate bowl in our warehouse but the main goal at the moment is to keep the bowl in Duluth for people to enjoy.
With the estimates we received it just doesn't reasonable to stay at this location but to find an alternative space for it. The overall renovations would exceed $50,000 for the warehouse to be up to code.
We talked with The Encounter across the street and we made an agreement to donate the bowl to their establishment.
At this moment all donations will be for prolonging the time to deconstruct and relocate the bowl to The Encounter Youth Center across the street.
We thank you for all the support and donations to help keep this stay in Duluth.
We wish we could have kept moving forward with The Carter overall but at this time it would take a lot more funding and time to bring the building up to code to allow this to be an legitimate establishment.

With your donation, we will be able to hire an architect to start the process in order to install a main entrance on 1st street and get up to date on the change of use for zoning and fire code changes and some help on rent in order to keep moving the process forward while we cannot occupy the space until the changes are made.
In order to allow people to enjoy skating for the winter and in the future, we need to move forward with this in order for the project to be seen and discussed with the City of Duluth and the Building/Safety Commitee. We want to keep this new concept going here in Duluth, lets keep pushing forward and keep giving back to this community.
THANK YOU!
