The Berlin Friday Academy Records Janitsch's Trios

Donation protected
Hello from all of us at The Berlin Friday Academy!

We are an ensemble of passionate historically-inspired musicians from around the world. We strive to bring about beauty through the performance, recording, and scholarly discussion of eighteenth century music.

We need your help.

Our latest project is a rare opportunity: to record the trio of sonatas of Johann Gottlieb Janitsch (1708—1763) and bring this beautiful music to to the global stage.

This August we have been given this opportunity by Dutch-based record label Brilliant Classics (https://www.brilliantclassics.com) to revive five of Janitsch's most inspired chamber music  works.

Following a half-century of neglect and complete obsolescence after having been confiscated and forcibly expatriated amongst the Soviet “plunders of war,” these works are able to sing once more.

Janitsch's music is some of the most creative work from the eighteenth century, with rich melodies and harmonies that reflect the unbridled optimism of the Enlightenment. These works are not only a great joy to play, but are superb to listen to and engage with.

This premiere album, hopefully the beginnings of our showcasing the works of this unjustly-forgotten composer, is not only an exercise in musical archaeology, but also a lesson in humanity. Music, art, books, and ideas all serve as the foundation of our human experience. By undertaking this project at this point, it is our hope that we can not only revive works that have been unjustly censored by history, but to bring a little bit of enlightenment to the world.

So will you help us, and be part of reviving some of the most beautiful history?
