The Barendrecht Family. A year of tragedy and loss
(Matt, Leisa , Luke and Megan)
This year has been tough for a lot of people but in my eyes none more so than this family.
In January this year Matt and Leisa’s 16 year old son Luke committed suicide after battling depression , the grief was overwhelming for all who knew Luke.
A few weeks after Lukes funeral , Leisa’s Aunty passed away suddenly then a few months after that Leisa’s grandfather passed away.
Matt and Leisa and their daughter Megan are in the grips of grief for not just their son but their other family members.
Matt , Luke’s Father has also battled depression and the death of his son and has taken a big toll on his mental health and he has sought help and continues to seek help with both in hospital and out patient services but this all comes at a price for doctors and medications therapies etc.
Megan has struggled to return to school full time after the death of her only sibling , her brother Luke.
Even though this year has been tough they still get up each day (I don’t know how) and do what they can to get through and continue to smile .
Unfortunately there has been a huge financial toll taken on this family this year too and all avenues of rec , leave , sick leave etc have been exhausted.
Leisa and Matt are givers they have blessed so many over the years financially and I have been blessed by them with help whenever I’ve needed, now it’s our turn to help them.
I would love to bless this family and to ease their burden even in a small way and to allow them to be able to have the time they need to grieve without the burdens of having to go to work due to dwindling finances, nothing we do or give will ever bring Luke back but if we can help their journey be a just a little easier this is the perfect way.
As we head into the season of giving I’m asking for all my friends to help even if it’s just by sharing this post.
Any amount will help and if you can’t donate I know that a prayer for them will be just as appreciated.
