Antigua International School seeks to provide a world class education to children of all socio-economic and cultural levels. This is radically different from the opportunity that most students have in Guatemala.
In Guatemala, 30% of students fail first grade (1), and the average child spends only 4.9 years in school. This rate is the lowest in all of Latin America (2). Even more serious is the case of girls and young women, among which “less than 30% of poor, indigenous girls are enrolled in secondary school.(3)” With these statistics, it is not surprising that Guatemala continues to lag behind in social and economic development.
At AIS, 100% of our students have graduated and attend university. Most importantly, an AIS education has taught them to think critically, act ethically and serve others. An AIS education shapes not only a child’s life, but also the future of Guatemala and the world.
Help us to transform Guatemala through our unique model of education. AIS gives 50% of its students scholarships to attend at an annual cost of $350,000.
Each family that requires scholarship undergoes an extensive financial evaluation by a third party to determine need. All families pay a percentage of tuition.
