Send Russell to teach in Africa
Donation protected
After 25 years of teaching art at the middle and high school levels, I recently retired and now have an opportunity to become a teacher/artist-in-residence at an art school in Zambia, Africa. Wayiwayi Studios is a visionary art school and gallery that is run by Lawrence and Agnes Yombwe.
A part of the program they offer extends to girls in the community who are unable to pay for this experience. This program not only serves as an avenue to these children's creativity, but it also plays a role in developing much needed confidence and self-esteem. It is Lawrence and Agnes's dream that having an artist-in-residence will open more doors for the students and create an ongoing cultural exchange.
I am excited to be participating in this unique opportunity and using my skills as an art eductor in a new way. My goal is to teach there for a month this spring. A portion of the money I need wil be realized through the sales of my own artwork, but the remaining portion will need to come from you, my support team. I invite any and all of you to donate and follow this adventure through my facebook page.
