My Study Abroad Trip to England

My affection for games grew after my parents bought me a Nintendo DS, but I did not know how to make them. When the time came to decide on my postsecondary program, I found Computer Science (CS) the best option. But upon entering the program, I discovered that there were more men than women. This gender imbalance motivated me to do something about the number of women in CS.
To achieve this, I became a member of several groups including Women in Computer Science (WiCS), STEMHub Foundation, and Rewriting the Code (RTC).
At school, I am a part of the WiCS student group. I create awareness of the various events and initiatives to involve first-year CS female students. Also, I mentor 10 high school students and facilitate coding workshops to expose them to CS.
Outside school—as part of STEMHub and Rewriting The Code (RTC), I facilitate workshops for young girls—ages 10 to 17 and mentor a CS student providing career-related advice and support.
I desire to make a difference in my school, community and the world at large. I want to travel the world, learn other cultures and engage under-represented groups in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Thus, studying overseas will help me achieve this dream.
As a result, I applied to my school’s exchange program and was accepted to study in England! This opportunity will help me continue to make an impact beyond my school walls.
However, studying abroad comes with expenses; this is where I need your support. I need your help to pay for accommodation, food, books, clothing, transportation and other costs. These can be expensive given the currency conversion from Canadian dollars to British pounds.
