Dads Service Expenses

Our father was diagnosed 2 years ago with liver cancer. He was put on the list for a liver transplant through Lahey Medical Center. The summer was long, and he was in and out of the hospital every three weeks. At the end of August we got the news we never imagined to get.  The cancer had spread and he was no longer eligible for the transplant, and there was nothing left medically for them to do.  Our family was told to expect him to pass in weeks or days. He was an absolute trooper through September and October. He got to see his grandbabies off in their costumes to collect some Halloween candy. He was able to spend precious moments with my mom, sisters and I, and their pup. There were some tough times while his disease rapidly progressed into November. My mom, who has been unable to work for the better part of the last year, was his care giver through his very last breath. Our mom, our super hero, made sure to grant him his last request of finishing his time with us at home.  We sat with our father for four days and comforted him, laughed with him, cried by his side, and reassured him that we would be okay and that he was okay. On Sunday evening he passed peacefully, watching one of his favorite holiday movies (his favorite holiday!) The Grinch who Stole Christmas, with my mom and their dog as he left us and found peace.

Asking for help at this time of the year is a very uncomfortable thing to do, however not celebrating our fathers life in the best way we can, is even harder. Funds will be used to help our family celebrate our father at his service and properly rest him to peace.
