Texas Disaster Relief Trip
As many are aware the Texas Gulf Coast was hit hard by Category 4 Hurricane Harvey, with 135 mph winds and rain.
Two of our best friends (the Polks and their extended family) live in Aransas Pass, TX. Their home and property looks to be a majority loss. While our primary goal is to travel down and help our friends in their recovery, we'll undoubtedly , end up helping others (most likely their neighbors and other citizens of Aransas Pass) as well.
My wife and I had a vacation planned the last half of September to visit family in Yellowstone National Park, but have decided instead to travel down to texas with our Motorhome (6mpg) and Jeep (trailered) with as much tools, gear and food and water that we can carry. I'll be driving down and Mandi will fly in as close as we can get before motoring the rest of the way in, hopefully Corpus Christie.
We are going as individuals and not part of any team, and hope to be fully self contained. That said it will be an expensive trip, and we expect supplies to be limited at best. Knowing how generous our society is we are setting up this account to help us help our friends and others in and around the Aransas Pass area. Any amount you can spare, is appreciated, and all monies raised will go to helping the disaster victims we encounter while there.
Specifically, we will use the money to buy fuel, water, food, and supplies (pre-mixed chainsaw fuel, extra chains, etc.) to share with our friends and their neighbors, to start to bring some stability to their world.
The monies will be withdrawn and directly deposited to our local account, so that we can make purchases with our debit card as needed, (easier to keep track). While we currently don't envision cash being given out directly, it cannot be completely ruled out, but we will track that also.
We plan to leave Kennewick, WA September 15th, arriving in Aransas Pass by the 18th and helping through October 1st, Returning by October 4th.
Most of the media is focused on the aftermath of Harvey in Houston, yet the folks in and around Aransas Pass need all the help they can get. Please help us reach our goal so that we can help as many folks as possible.

We are from Kennewick, WA, I am a career firefighter, and she is a controller for a local car dealership. We are intending to fund our own travel (nearly $3k) and are asking for support from you to allow us to give more to those we see needing assistance during our stay.
