Giving Tuesday: A gift for Teule

Tax deductible
Help Us Serve and Provide for the Children of Teule

Teule Kenya  is a non-profit organization that works with orphaned and vulnerable children in Oloitokituk, Kenya. We strive to build relationships for these children that give them hope for the future in a nurturing, Christian environment that supports excellence in education, career development, and personal growth.

Our children range in age from infants to 19 years old. They come to Teule for a variety of reasons. They may be starving, abused, diseased, orphaned or abandoned. After coming to Teule, they come to know LOVE!

We were there. Although Jayne and I (me) have been volunteers for Teule a year we have never seen Teule before two weeks ago. We entered the gates and were engulfed with smiles, hugs and wide eyes filled with wonder and hope. Expecting hunger, hurt and wanton looks of despair we were treated to a welcome that only lacked the joy of ticker tapes of distant memory.

These projects were completed by the time we left Teule.  The bicycle repair project and we saw 40 children compete for time on each bike.

The swingset was successfully torn down and moved to a different safer location on the Teule grounds.

Farm Improvements:  The project of installing a drip-line for the crops was temporarily stalled while the team was there.  Diana Denwood-Englesgjerd was a trained water conservationist.  She advised Teule where to put irrigation onto the just planted fruit trees and plants.  However, some new parts had to be purchased before the water lines could be installed.

Fencing: The broken fencing around our farmwas fixed.  Also, a new fence was installed between the crops extending down to the senior boys dormitory.  It was completed while the American team was there.

Funded projects:  We are happy to report that the milking cow was purchased in the week following our leaving for home.  She will be a source of food for the children and income for Teule.

Also, the tanks that you see will be moved to the front of Teule and made much more accessible to local people who need the water for survival.

Or goals were met and exceeded through the generosity of The Luse Companies, Aurora, IL; First Presbyterian LaGrange, IL; Community United Methodist, Naperville, IL; Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital; Pulse Financials, Lisle, IL, Brookdale Assisted Living, Lisle, IL; The Birches Assisted Living Westmont, IL and many individual donors who are most appreciated.

Our jobs are just started.  Teule has interntional support from the Netherlands, Norway, Japan and Canada.  These jobs include filling the stalls in the farm with cows that can be milked.  Improving the children's diet, clothing and blankets.  Getting a larger pump on their well so they can pump more water for Teule and the surrounding community.  As important as these are your continuing prayers.  Thank you,  thank you all.
