PLEASE HELP MY SISTER BEAT CANCER!!

Donation protected
My name is Russell Pleasant. As some of you know the recent news of breast cancer, my sister, Telisa Pennington got diagnosed with. The following explains it through her own words.

Scary as it is, I've been diagnosed with Stage 2b Breast cancer. This started back about mid-July when I saw an article on Facebook talking about a woman finding a lump herself. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/woman-shares-trick-to-finding-breast-cancer-doctors-never-told-her/ Well, needless to say, I took the advice and did a self-check finding a lump on the left side of my left breast. I was panicked, to say the least because the first thought was that I didn't have medical insurance (and at the moment I still don't). Fortunately, with wonderful friends to help me, I discovered the Best Chance Network through SC DHEC and they were willing to do a clinical exam since I'm only 33 years old. Their policy is mammograms for only women over 40 years old unless they find something through an exam. So on Sept. 12th, I met the BCN at GHS Radiology for my clinical exam. I, of course, had anticipated the findings then and they ordered the mammogram to GHS Patewood.

The anxiety was horrible waiting and waiting and waiting for that call, and almost a month later...October 4th was my 1st mammogram. Daunting as it was, it was kind of refreshing to get the show on the road. Of course, this all came to a screeching halt when the radiologist came in after the ultrasound (for those who don't know, and I didn't before all this...Mammograms are accompanied by ultrasounds too! Fun, Right?) She told me that they were going to order biopsies on me because my readings came back abnormal.....Well, after I heard the word biopsies, my mind went blank....rushing water to the ears and static. All I could say was "Ok." Exactly 1 week later....I entered my appointment with loads of anxiety and one of the bestest friends I could ever ask for. I had originally been set for 5 biopsies (4 to the breasts and 1 lymph node). The doctor decided to wait on the lymph node however on the basis of what the others results were. Sadly, it gave me a little hope, but it was quickly forgotten because the next day while I was at work....I got the call. I was given the news of cancer and well.....I lost it. I silently stepped back inside while I was at work, and I found the first female that I knew enough to simply just ask for a hug, and I cried.....like I had never cried before....

Since then I've had an MRI done and I've met with my doctors to get the ball rolling so to speak. My dance card has filled up rather quickly as well as I'm standing on 6 appointments at the moment between this week and next....I'll keep everyone updated as I know this is going to get a lot harder and well I'm only just getting started...

Any help will be greatly appreciated to help them through this difficult time, and to help my nephew through school during this process. We are all praying for her. And hope that everything turns out for the best.
We Love you Telisa!!

The next step in the process will be Chemo, Surgery, then Radiation. I will keep this updated as much as i can so everyone knows whats going on. Thank you all so much
