Hayden and I held his hand, rubbed his heart, rubbed his hair, his forehead- "it's okay, its okay honey, we'll be okay, we love you, I love you, I love you dad, I love you so much dad".
Slowly he closed his eyes, he took his final breath. The best dad in the world, the kindest man, my best friend, my soul mate, was free. He was free of this body, this disease. I am forever greatful for the most beautiful 18yrs of my life. He will forever live among us, his legacy surmounts, so for now fly, fly with those wings you so graciously earned. Until we see you again my love -- "BIGGER THAN THE TREES"..

September 13, 2013 Rico will be going home from the hospital.
Team McPherson was given very sad news. Rico's doctors have told us there is nothing left they can do but make him comfortable. Treatment at this time is harming his body more than it is helping. They said we have approximately 3 weeks left with him here on this earth. Yvonne, Hayden and Noah will be welcoming Rico home where they can spend these last days with him surrounded by love from each other and all of us supporting them. Hospice care will be there to assist the family.

"I hope someday I can find peace in this, I pray our son will find comfort in all he is and all he will be with the example of a dad who loves and adores him more than life itself. I will never understand but what I know is this earth is losing a great man, father, husband, friend, son, brother & uncle. So many lives he selflessly walked a path of faith, strength and hope with." -Yvonne

Team McPherson now asks that we help to spread Rico's legacy of paying it forward to every life we have the opportunity of touching, even in hard times and for those some may deem undeserving. We all know the selflessness of Rico and his unconditional loving soul, let that memory guide you through every day of your life and please, please share with others along the way.
Please at this time pray for peace, strength and healing for the McPherson family and all of their friends.

Any financial donation to the family will now be helping to support Yvonne and Hayden through this tragic time and to assist in the expensive costs of the medical care and treatment during Rico's last days.

Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. With all supportive efforts our mission is to allow Rico and his family to relish in an abundance of love, peace, laughter and hope during these days left for making priceless memories that will live on in the hearts of his son Hayden, wife Yvonne and family and friends forever.

Please join with us to help support Rico, Yvonne and Hayden: "Team McPherson" as they fight against cancer.

August 7, 2013 Rico was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer that has already spread into his lungs and throughout his blood stream. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the UW Medical Center have determined the best treatment possible is with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). Rico will now begin a chemo drug treatment called Nexavar. Nexavar will not cure cancer but is known to stabilize the disease by slowing or temporarily stopping the growth and spread of certain cancer cells. This means that if his body responds positively his life of 3 to 6 months without treatment can be prolonged to 6 to 12 months, potentially longer if he has a "dramatic" positive response.

Rico is a generous, ambitious, free spirit with a great appreciation of family and love for all. He has impacted many lives, mainly those of his wife Yvonne and their son Hayden (10). Yvonne and Rico have built a home, a sanctuary of love and support for their family of three and their dog Noah. They continue to nourish one another and their marriage, always working to connect on the deepest levels. As a father, Rico is Hayden's #1 cheerleader and chauffer, actively involved with his academics and extracurricular activities. Together they live a healthy lifestyle, implementing strong values of the importance of honesty, maintaining high aspirations for one self and giving back in every way possible to the world and people less fortunate.

Team McPherson asks if you feel compelled to help that you give prayers of strength, words of encouragement and if possible a financial donation. If you would like to donate, we very much appreciate it as it helps alleviate many stresses. All donations will go towards Nexavar and future treatments, out of pocket cancer related expenses that are not covered, healthy super foods to boost cells with nutrients needed, as well as to supplement the loss of income required to pay the mortgage and routine bills for the McPherson family.

"I'm pretty sure God's not ready for me yet, I'm confident I still have more to give, more to offer here on earth." -Rico
