August 29th 2016, Jamie was diagnosed with grade one Follicular Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Since then, she was in a clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.  Travel and Hotel expenses took a toll on them, but they did everything they could to keep up.  Scheduled to be completed with the clinical trial by the end of this year, things were looking up. The treatment had a high success rate, and she had fallen into the same category. 
      Jamie is a well respected ICU nurse at Helen Keller Hospital in Tuscumbia, Al.     Recently, Jamie started feeling ill, which is all too common for someone working in the hospital industry.   A small cough, quickly turned to pneumonia in both lungs.  With the weakened immune system that comes with the trial, it came on very fast.  Within a few days, she had been transferred from Helen Keller Hospital to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama.  She was immediately put on an ECMO machine, which you can read about here: https://www.ucsfhealth.org/treatments/extracorporeal_mechanical_oxygenation/ 
There are only a handful of these machines in the United States, and now, her life is in its hands.  The doctors are hopeful so far with how things are going.
     Now, travel is taking a toll on her family.  Currently living in North Alabama, they are having to travel to Birmingham where Jamie will have to stay for quite some time.  With a loving husband that has not left her side, he has been unable to work.  A 7 year old son that is having to stay with family, they will soon be having a difficult time with finances.  Jamie is stubborn and she is a fighter.  Please know, that anyone can be a member of #teamjamiewallace.  If you can give monetary, that would be wonderful.  Every little bit helps.  If you have nothing that you can give, a prayer would be plenty.  And those are free.  Thank you for taking your time to read all of this.
