Kathy's Team Fist Bump

My wife, Kathy Hoard has the biggest heart I have ever known. Family is the most important thing to her. She has two daughters, Danielle and Katie, and two granddaughters (15 month old twins), Isabella and Kathryn. Oh yes, and there's me, her husband, Michael, who loves her with all my heart. She is an avid outdoors-woman who loves Nascar, country music, football, fishing, hiking, and sneaking away for long weekends in the Poconos.
On November 17, 2017, she was diagnosed with a nasty form of Lung Cancer called Adenocarcinoma. Within weeks we learn that it has reached Stage 4 and spread from her right lung to her trachea, broncii, and pelvic bone. There is no doubt that she has just begun the fight of her life and the best thing we have going for us is Kathy's fighting spirit! I'm not sure if it's from her Irish mother or Polish father, but it is definitely there!
All donations will be deposited into a special account that will be used to make Kathy as comfotable as possible on her trips to get treatment. We learned after the first one that it envolves a very stress filled, traffic congested drive. By getting a hotel a few blocks away from the treatment center, Kathy can enjoy a nice, restful evening and be fresh and ready for the short drive the following moring. Also, the appointment is too important to chance missing because of an acident causing the freeway to be closed down. Other travel expences this fund will cover are tolls, gas, food on the road, and any other unexpected expences.
Sadly, Kathy's treatment will not end after a few sessions. The doctors tell us that the cancer will always be in her body. Therefore, cancer treatments will be needed for the rest of her life. Thankfully, we have fantastic insurance that will cover most of the medical expenses. We have learned after only 6 weeks of living this nightmare that we will both be missing a lot of work. Therefore, unable to predict the future, some of the money from this special account might be used to cover living expences should the need arise.
The second reason is because I want Kathy to be constantly reminded of how powerful her support system is. I am asking that any donations be accompanied with a brief message of encouragement, prayers, and/or love for Kathy. We must keep that fighting spirt burning bright!
The third reason for this donation request is because a portion of all donations will go to cancer research.

Follow Kathy's Progress From Day #1:
We have begun publishing a weekly journal that allows others to follow our jouney as we beat this nasty disease.
Kathy wants her story out there for two reasons:
1) When others find themself suddenly cast upon the path we now find ourselves on, perhaps they can take notes or inspiration from Kathy's journy. It is a very confusing and stressful journy. Any form of advice or knowledge has been welcomed with open arms from the both of us. Perhaps Kathy can pay it forward by sharing our experience and pointers.
2) We both want to keep our friends and family out of the dark when it comes to Kathy's experiences along this path. We value Team Fist Bump and love all of you very much!
