Team Canada Dance 2018

We are a group of 13 dancers from Marquis Dance Academy who have been chosen to represent Canada at the 2018 World Dance Championships in Warsaw, Poland from November 28th- December 10th, in Ballet, Jazz and Modern. The International Dance Organization (IDO) is a World Dance and Dance-Sport Federation with a membership of over 90 Nations representing more than 250,000 dancers from six continents. The best dancers from around the World will be competing for the World Championship Title!We have all been dancing since a young age, and train seven days a week, for an average of over 20 hours weekly. We compete as soloists and as members of a team, in small group and large group routines in local, national and international competitions. We also take advantage of training opportunities in the off-season, such as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Summer Intensive and the Rutherford Movement Exchange in Toronto. We have been awarded top marks in many different competitions in all styles, including Ballet, Jazz and Modern.Dance in not recognized as a sporting event in Canada, and we receive no funds from arts or sport councils. The yearly cost of our training for each dancer is well over $10 000, and the travel and extra training for this opportunity will be over $6000.00! For this reason, we are looking for corporate sponsors to help support our dream of representing our country on the international stage.
