Caela's Greatest Challenge

Just two months ago this brave, beautiful girl was enjoying her senior year. She worked hard, received excellent grades and was overjoyed to receive a scholarship to a wonderful school.

In an instant, everything in her world would change. It all started with a routine doctor’s visit; her eye was watering. By the end of that week she would be diagnosed with rare pediatric cancer.

After further testing it would be determined that the cancer had spread throughout her body, including her bone marrow, she was placed at stage 4.

Caela is a Fighter!

Although her prognosis is not very good, we have no doubt she will fight and prevail. She is tough, that is a certainty. She was always the tomboy, keeping up with her older brother. She loves sports, was a wrestler in high school and played on the high school softball team. There was never any challenge that was too great for her. Never any obstacle she couldn’t overcome. In life she always gave 110%, she is strong willed and stubborn. Sometimes a bit more than her parents would have liked, but we believe it is this stubbornness that will see her through this trying time.

A Long Road Ahead.

Caela will undergo 18 months of intensive Chemotherapy at Barbara Bush’s Children’s Hospital in Portland. During this time she will also receive 6 weeks of radiation therapy in Boston. The side effects are severe and the treatment will be demanding on her and her family. Still she is headstrong and determined!

How We Can Help!

Medical costs are mounting. We want to help with those as well as all the accumulating expenses that even decent medical insurance won't cover. The family will also need help with financial support for living expenses, transportation, travel and other expenses. We want them to be able to focus on Caela, what she needs and to help her fight this ugly disease.
