Hitchhikers Go to Worlds 4/19-4/22

Tax deductible
We are FIRST Robotics (FRC) Team 2059, The Hitchhikers from Apex, North Carolina! We have qualified for World Championships in Houston and are hoping to raise money to help our team afford the travel costs to Texas.

We competed at the North Carolina State Championships at Campbell University, where we were advanced to finals and received the Hard Hat Safety Award.

Over the 2017 Steamworks season, we were able to accumulate enough points to qualify to attend FRC World Championships in Houston. This is our team’s seventh season, and this will be our third time to Worlds. We are incredibly excited and honored to be representing North Carolina at the World Championships!

The annual World Championship offers our team the unique opportunity of competing against teams across the world, learning from other teams and attending conferences. These conferences train us to improve our skills in robotics, business management and community outreach.  We hope to use the knowledge gained to improve in preparation for next season and expand robotics programs in the Wake County, NC area.

However, participating in the World Championship is a costly endeavor. Generally, our students pay their own travel expenses, but travel to Houston is signicantly more expensive than in-state travel. Not every student has the resources to afford this expense. Since designing and building our robot, as well as performing business and outreach functions, is a collaborative effort,  Our goal is to get all of our hard-working students to the World Championship in Houston.

Any money raised will go toward travel scholarships to get students to the Houston Championship.  If there is anything left over, we will roll it forward into our non-profit and use it to start FIRST Lego League teams.

Team Background:

Our team consists of just under 30 students with students from the entire Raleigh metro area.  Our students are very dedicated and passionate about FIRST Robotics. We pride ourselves in having a team oriented and innovative environment where students are encouraged to learn and put their skills to practice.
