FIRST, (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), is a unique varsity sport of the mind that demands a multi-faceted team of students, who manage both the technical and non-technical challenges in the competition. FIRST Robotics Team 1708, Amp'd Robotics of McKeesport Area High School is participating in its 10th year of competition. The team partners high school students with industry professionals who must work together to solve real-life problems in engineering, computer automation, graphic design, business and marketing, among many skills.

As our team continues progress to championship caliber, the funding required to sustain the programs level of competitiveness is always increasing. After a championship season and a trip to nationals, our funding is depleted due to the costs of attending these events. This dedicated team of students and mentors work diligently in planning, preparation, and design of a competitive robot throughout the year. While fundraising efforts are made, the amount of money to sustain a team and stay competitive cannot be done without the help of gracious supporters through their generous donations. Donations made to the team will help alleviate the costs of competition entry fees, travel expenses, and the materials and supplies necessary to build the robot itself.
