The nurses came back with the bad news, “We cannot give you your epidural”. Tahnee Ciccone, 20 years old, was seven centimeters dilated when she found out she was going to have an impromptu natural birth with her second child, Grayson. It wasn’t until the next day she discovered that something was wrong.
Her fiancé took care of Grayson in the postpartum room at Los Robles as the nurses continuously gave her blood transfusions and told her she would more than likely be leaving that day with her baby. A few hours later the hematologist working at Los Robles with the City of Hope came into the room and diagnosed her with Leukemia - The ambulance was on its way.
With only an hour before the arrival of an ambulance bound for City of Hope, Tahnee and her fiancé had to make a decision. Tahnee would leave her one-day old child with her mother as she left for the City of Hope.
After a week of blood and platelet transfusions, bone marrow biopsy’s and extensive testing, the doctors diagnosed Tahnee with Acute Myeloma Leukemia - an aggressive form of Leukemia. Still healing from the birth of her child, the doctors started her on chemotherapy. Tahnee is not allowed to see her children for the next month as a result of the chemotherapy and compromised immune system, so her fiancé has been supporting her at the City of Hope for the last week and the two of them have been trying to comfort each other during this very unexpected and difficult time. We would be truly grateful for any help whether it be monetary or even platelet donations which can be donated to City of Hope in Duarte California. To make an appointment to donate platelets you must call (626) [phone redacted] and specify that you want to donate in Tahnee Ciccone’s honor. Tahnee wants more than anything else to get healthy and see her children again.
