Lily & Brian Reedy were raising money to help fund their goal of riding RAGBRAI  this year.  The event takes place July 21-27 Lily and Brian were going to ride their recumbent trikes across Iowa to draw attention to their philosophy of "Living Positively in the Face of Adversity".

However, a CT Scan in June 2019 showed that the cancer on Lily's liver has continued to grow again and the current treatment is no longer viable. They have come across a miracle and found a new drug that is very specific for Lily type of breast cancer and one of the more difficult mutations in her cancer.  The just got released a week ago by the FDA and it came just days before she would have been scheduled for the toxic infusion that kills the cancer, but also a lot of good things.

The new treatment is another oral chemo. The fatigue of being on one oral chemo already for six months is taking it's toll on Lily. Between the medication, the rough side-effects, and the cancer itself continuing to grow, it's time to slow down and focus on healing!  They have decided to keep Lily's energy strong and slow down a number of things in their lives. They will continue to ride their trikes when the energy is good and they hope to join other events later this year and next year.

They both have incurable diseases that cause challenges in their everyday lives.  Since 2009, Brian has been dealing with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease. After dealing with Breast Cancer in 2015, Lily now has Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer on her liver.  Recently her current treatments are shrinking the tumors. They both had to retire early from their careers due to their health issues.

They focus on what they can do.  They speak with support groups, co-lead a local Parkinson's support group, Lily leads a care-partner group, and Brian teaches Laughter Yoga.  They are actively involved in their community in sharing their story and positive outlook based on real life experiences. They are always willing to come and speak to new groups and share their story and positive ways.  See their website for more information: www.careliving4all.com

THE FUNDS HELP PAY FOR SUPPLIES FOR FUTURE BIKE RIDES TO SHOW POSITIVITY IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY.  They were looking for help to pay event fees,  supplies and transportation, etc. After that, extra funds will be allocated to Parkinson's and Cancer organizations.
