It is an honor to share Mish's story with you all :) I ask that you take a moment and a breath to read about a very special human being.
For those that haven't had the opportunity to meet Mish:
Michelle (Mish) Lapitan is a second-year Social Welfare student, concentrating in Community Mental Health at UC Berkeley. She is a fierce social justice advocate who uses photography and writing to lift and center her community.
Mish is deeply committed to her work with Pilipino/Pilipino American communities. She has dedicated herself to supporting youth in school, housing, and mental health settings. Her work has included teaching Pilipino/Pilipino American studies, serving as a residential counselor at a crisis shelter, a school social worker and a mental health clinician.
Why we are asking for your support:
Mish is currently undergoing treatment for a rare form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She had been in remission for 14 years, but unfortunately relapsed in November.
To support her healing, Mish is delaying her graduation and taking a break from school. For anyone who has undergone this type of treatment, the medical bills are high and unsustainable.
We ask, that to the best of your capacity, you support Mish and her family to pay for blood tests, treatment, scans, tests, healthcare consultations and transportation. Mish's mother, Abella Lapitan, has been chosen as the beneficiary of this campaign. Her mother is her caretaker and we will be giving her mother these funds to best support Mish and their overall family.

Hello dear community, friends, and loved-ones.
First of all, thank you for the beautiful way that so many of you have showed-up in this campaign. It has been heart opening to watch the support and love flow in.
As organizers of the campaign, we are going to raise the goal in response to the amount that was raised in 11 days. We will continue raising it in reflection with how community extends their resources and love towards Mish.
All resources are going to support Mish in her whole wellbeing (mind, body, spirit).
Thank you again for the way that you are sharing, posting, reposting and giving. Please please continue sharing the go-fund me. We are so excited to watch this continue to move through the beginning of may.
