-What do we say to the god of death?
-Not today.

This is a story of strength and survival. Our sweet Laura is among the best people you can find out there. She is a daughter, a sister, a wife, a cousin and an admirable friend to many people who cherish her. She never fails to make you laugh and it is nearly impossible to not get attached to her. Anyone who knows Laura knows how extraordinary of a woman she is. Laura needs our help right now.

On the morning of May 8th, 2019, Laura was on her way to work, walking North on Langelier street, ready to cross the street at the corner of Jean-Talon. As she began to cross the street, a garbage truck struck her. The driver failed to stop, unaware of the collision and of the life he had just changed forever. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition and with serious injuries to her legs and pelvis. It took surgeons hours just to stabilize her. Laura is currently fighting for her life in the ICU with her family by her side. As a result of this tragedy, Laura has a long and difficult road to recovery ahead of her. Many more surgeries and medical procedures are scheduled in the following weeks, as well as physical rehabilitation in the following months. However, doctors are optimistic about her recovery and are confident she will be able to walk again. Everyone is in awe of her and we all admire the strength she has been displaying during this ordeal. She is a true fighter.

By creating this campaign, it is our hope that we can ease Laura and her family's financial burden allowing them to wholly focus on her recovery and support. She will not return to work for at least a year and her husband will also be off work to be by her side. The funds raised will help pay any medical expense that is not covered by insurance, hospital parking passes, replacement of personal belongings damaged during the accident and to surprise her when she recovers as she was going to celebrate her 29th birthday on May 15th, only a week after the accident.

Any financial contribution you can make is greatly appreciated. Once the campaign is over, your donations will make their way to Laura via her mother, Mrs. Ernelda Diogo. Additionally, we ask that you continue your prayers and support for Laura and her family. To help get the word out, you can share the link to your Facebook Timeline.
