A brain injury happens in the U.S. every 13 seconds... to people just like you and me.  And when it happens, that person enters into a brand new world, often lost and confused, often misunderstood by their healthcare providers, misunderstood by their family and friends, and often, abandoned, and alone without the tools and support they need.

Even though brain injuries happen to Americans 1.7 million times per year, I never thought a brain injury would happen to me.

I had a 10-year career in neuroplasticity. I have helped hundreds of clients re-wire their brains using hypnosis in a medical office for better mental, emotional, and physical health. I have helped my clients heal their bodies of serious illnesses, and shift out of trauma, anxiety and depression. I knew this stuff. I had all the tools. I was well connected in both traditional and complementary medicine communities.

So when sailing through a storm landed me with a brain injury, I thought. "OK, I have been dealt this hand, because if anyone can heal this, I can. I am going to heal my brain and then teach others how I did it. This will be my biggest contribution to the world. I am unstoppable. I can do this."

Well… it turns out, I was in for a humbling ride.

I have made huge strides in the last five years since I was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 48. I have travelled to experts, worked with countless modalities, and continue to search for what will bring the next step of a meaningful life. I started a blog, I started speaking publicly, I was a Keynote Speaker, I was on the news, The Oprah Winfrey Network, and I was asked to join Vermont's Brain Injury Advisory Board.

I like to focus on what I CAN do, not the many things I still CAN'T do. While processing motion and vision
are still very challenging, what I CAN do, is sit and talk. What I CAN do is share my vast wealth of information about healing and happiness, and offer a dose of inspiration to make a difference in the world....  even when I still struggle to leave my house. I believe in making meaning out of our suffering.

Five years ago, there was very little information out there. I had to dig hard to find it. I have recorded hundreds of hours of raw video speaking with specialists and experts in the TBI field, as well as the real experts, other survivors. I have video footage of my own recovery including exercises, treatments, adaptations, coping tools and techniques that I have learned for daily living. I did it not just for me, but for everyone with brain injuries!

Now I need help getting these videos edited and published online. I can not do this myself, and once again, I humbly accept my limitations. I do not get paid for this and am donating my time for something I am passionate about. I want this information to be accessible to everyone free of charge.

This is a very important project. One of the terrible things about acquiring a Traumatic Brain Injury is the lack of information and support. Diagnoses are commonly missed or dismissed.  Survivors are left on their own to figure it out, without the cognitive abilities to do so.

Let's give them the tools.

Not only will this project give resources and support to those with Traumatic Brain Injury, but it will mean so much to me personally. I want nothing more than to create a contribution out of the incredible challenge I have lived through.

We need funds to edit the videos and put them up online on a regular basis for subscribers.  We need funds to create the website and also to edit the book I have been writing for 5 years. I have over 400 pages written... in varying stages of my recovery and writing ability, and it will be a large project to make it flow smoothly and be the unique contribution it is going to be.

We are launching this web-tv channel March 1, for Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month, and have only 30 days before that to raise the funds.

I never want anyone again to go through this without the information, support, and encouragement they need. Living with a TBI is challenging enough, and I want to put a stop to the needless part of the suffering.

That is why I am asking for your help.

On behalf of the 5.3 million Americans, a whopping 2% of our population, currently living with disabilities due to a Traumatic Brain Injury, I thank you with all my heart for your donation and your support.
